Welcome to Reception!
Reception this year will be taught by Mrs Lormor.
In Reception we cover seven areas of learning set out in the EYFS curriculum:
- Personal and Social Development
- Communication and Language
- Physical Development
- Understanding the World
- Creative Development
Phonics is delivered daily through the Sounds Write scheme which the children will have started to access in the summer term of their time in nursery.
For Maths, we follow the White Rose Maths scheme alongside Number Blocks and give our children plenty of opportunity to follow their own interests and consolidate their maths understanding in our continuous provision.
The children in our EYFS setting have access to a wealth of outdoor space and regularly work in our forest school and allotment areas. Children enjoy a wide range of experiences in our EYFS provision and we feel it gives our children the excellent start they need to life in school full time.
Reading is a high priority in Reception and all of our children are welcome to borrow stories to read at home from our class lending library. We have also started a scheme whereby children take our class bear home each night to share a story and some hot chocolate with their adults.
Class Dojo is used as our class reward scheme and also the place where parents/carers can see regular up dates about what we are doing in class.
If you have any questions or want to find out more about what your child will be learning in Reception please speak to a member of the EYFS team.
You can view the EYFS Reception letters on our website.
