Welcome to Year 4/5
Welcome to Year 4/5!
Year 4/5 will be taught by Miss Ferguson this year. We will also have Mrs Stansfield and Mr Sowerby working with us throughout the year.
Our first topic for the Autumn term is ‘Traders and Raiders’ with a focus on Saxons and Vikings. We will be taking a trip to Bede’s world in Jarrow late in October, more information to follow.
We have singing on Monday mornings, followed by PE on a Monday afternoon. Your child will need their PE kit in school for the duration of the week in case we have the opportunity for extra PE with visiting sports coaches.
We would like to encourage the children to read as much as possible at home. They can read alone or to an adult (please sign their reading record if you know they have read). Children are able to change their own books in Y4/5 and an adult will listen to them read each week in school. As a minimum the children are asked to read 3 times per week but more than that would be fantastic!
Homework will be given each week. The children will take home their homework on a Friday and it needs to be returned no later than the following Thursday. Homework will be explained each week as it is given out.
Dojo points continue to be given out as rewards for the children, we need an up to date email address for you to access the children’s progress on this please update the school office with your contact details if they have changed.
If you would like to know more about the topics we will be teaching throughout the year please see our curriculum page.
If you would like to speak to Miss Ferguson don’t hesitate to get in touch via the school office, or please catch me at the end of school.
You can view the Year 4 letters on our website.
