Dear Parents and children,
You have been back to school now for almost a week and I couldn’t be prouder of you. You have settled back in like you have never been away and you should be very proud of yourselves!
We have made some adjustments to school so that we can welcome you back under the government guidance. Please look through the documents on the website so that you know what to expect. If you have any questions as always just get in touch.
We have focused our initial return around the following principles. We will move to more formal teaching of the curriculum again once we feel everyone is settled.
We are very aware that our children will need some time to re-engage with school. They have not been with us for a prolonged period of time and they will need some support, guidance and time to get used to being back with us again. Some children will be with different teachers and in different areas of the school. We know that it will take some time to re-establish relationships, routines, structures and expectations; just like we would do at the beginning of the school year. We intend to do this in a slow, pastoral way where Personal, Social and Health education and well being will be the priority for us all. We will communicate clearly and as often as we can with you all so that you have a good understanding of how your child is settling back into a school environment.
Our staff will then take some time to review with the children what they have completed during their time at home, they will see how much as been retained and covered and what needs to be retaught. They will also ensure that children’s knowledge of basic skills in english and maths have been reviewed and so we will have an idea of how to move learning forward.
Our teachers will then plan for and deliver lessons that support our children to recover from the lost learning time of the last few months. We will make this as interactive and engaging as we can. We will also as far as possible ensure links with the wider curriculum encompassing science, history, geography and Art as much as possible.
Home learning will still be available in the event we are told to close our school, or in the event children need to self isolate. All of this will be communicated to you as and when it is required.
All that remains to say is that please have a look in the following sections of the website – they may answer questions you have.
If you need anything at all then please get in touch with the school office.
(These pages on our website are designed to let you know how we will be organising our school so that we can welcome you back safely. We are really looking forward to seeing you all again and want you to know how we will be caring for you when you are with us. We hope you find the information in these pages useful, and if you have any other questions, please just ask us.)
