Dear Parents and children,
Wow! What a year! We can’t believe it has been 12 weeks since we closed our school to the majority of our pupils. We hope you have all been safe during this time and have loved hearing all about what you have been up to!
We are ready to start to welcome some groups of children back in to school. Please know that we have spent a long time organising these plans to ensure as best we can, the safety of everyone. School might look a little different to how it normally does. That’s okay! We have started to get used to this new ‘normal’. During this reopening time our focus will be on making sure everyone is happy, safe and settled. To this end our reopening plans will be focused around these areas:
We are very aware that our children will need some time to re-engage with school. They have not been with us for a prolonged period of time and they will need some support, guidance and time to get used to being back with us again. Some children will be with different teachers and in different areas of the school. We know that it will take some time to re-establish relationships, routines, structures and expectations; just like we would do at the beginning of the school year. We intend to do this in a slow, pastoral way where Personal, Social and Health education and well being will be the priority for us all. We will communicate clearly and as often as we can with you all so that you have a good understanding of how your child is settling back into a school environment.
Our staff will then take some time to review with the children what they have completed during their time at home, they will see how much as been retained and covered and what needs to be retaught. They will also ensure that children’s knowledge of basic skills in english and maths have been reviewed and so we will have an idea of how to move learning forward.
Our teachers will then plan for and deliver lessons that support our children to recover from the lost learning time of the last few months. We will make this as interactive and engaging as we can. We will also as far as possible ensure links with the wider curriculum encompassing science, history, geography and Art as much as possible.
If you are choosing not to send your children into school at this time, then please don’t worry. They will begin the reengage, review and recover cycle when they do return to us. Home learning will still be available as it always has been.
All that remains to say is that please have a look in the following sections of the website – they may answer questions you have.
If you need anything at all then please get in touch with the school office.
(These pages on our website are designed to let you know how we will be organising our school so that we can welcome you back safely. We are really looking forward to seeing you all again and want you to know how we will be caring for you when you are with us. We hope you find the information in these pages useful, and if you have any other questions, please just ask us.)
