Welcome to The Adventurers class page
Autumn Term
Our topic this term is All About Me. This is the perfect topic to help us to get to know the children really well as they embark on their journey into KS1.
We will be sharing photographs of ourselves as babies and thinking about the question ‘How have we changed?’ In Art we will be practising our drawing and painting skills as we work on our self-portraits. We will also be learning all about our senses and taking part in some experiments to test them.
As part of this topic, we will be studying the village we live in, using our observational skills and creating simple maps. Such a busy start to the year!
Our next topic in the Autumn term is Flying Machine. We will be trying to answer the question ‘How can we fly?’ To help us with this we will be studying Amy Johnson and the Wright brothers. In D.T. we will be using our design skills to plan and make kites. Hopefully we will be able to test them out when they are finished.
As the term progresses, we will be looking at seasonal changes and recording our findings. We will also be thinking about the question ‘Why are gifts given at Christmas?’
Phonics will be taught daily as we continue to develop our reading and writing skills. You can help with this by hearing your child read as often as you can. As they say, ‘Practice makes perfect!’
Our P.E lesson this term is on a Wednesday. Children can come to school dressed in appropriate clothing on this day.
