Hello and welcome to Pathfinder’s page where you will be able to find out about all the exciting topics we have planned for you this year. We can’t wait to get started!
Autumn Term 2021 Information…
Just a reminder, Pathfinder’s PE day for this half term is Thursday so we would ask all children to come dressed appropriately for PE that day. Keep an eye out on this page as we will have specialist PE coaches and outdoor PE learning taking place throughout the year which may mean a change in PE day. All details of changes will go out with plenty of notice.
To begin this Autumn term in Pathfinders class we will be answering the question, ‘What makes Fishburn so special?’ During this topic, we will be thinking about Fishburn’s locality, famous people from Fishburn and the wonderful monuments that are in Fishburn that hold such a lot of historical information. We will also be taking a trip to these monuments to experience them up close! There may also be a special visit from a historian who will have lots of photographs and maps to help with our understanding of this topic. Wow! Such a brilliant start to the year!
Our next topic in Autumn term will be ‘Rainforests and Climate Change’ – a personal favourite topic for Mrs Kett and Mrs Murray! This topic’s key question will be, ‘Should we worry about Climate Change?’ To help us to answer this question we will read the stories, The Great Kapok Tree and Running Wild by Michael Morpurgo. We will also be learning about a great advocate for climate change, Greta Thunberg who started her quest to help stop climate change at the age of 15! What an achievement and what an inspiring lady! We will also have a fun, fabulous trip booked to Butterfly World in Preston Park to experience the environment of a rainforest for ourselves. Also, we are hoping to invite parents in to listen to a presentation on all the information we will have learnt and try to inform parents on why we should look after our planet.
Then (dare we even mention the word), we will be planning some fantastic seasonal activities to get us in the festive spirit for… CHRISTMAS!!!
Such a busy and exciting term planned…
