Autumn Term 2022

I can’t wait for a brilliant year ahead! Our topic this term is Rivers and Mountains (Durham City/ The Wear). We will be looking at everything in Our County including rivers and landmarks. From there, we will be drawing sketch maps and describing areas as rural or urban. In English, we are reading The Pebble in my Pocket about the journey of a pebble over millions of years. It even has dinosaurs and mammoths in it!

The next term will be all about the Industrial Revolution. The key question is how was Middlesbrough and the North East shaped by the Industrial Revolution? (1750 – 1900). Our class book will be The Iron Man which is a book I love.

Spring Term 2023

It has been a wonderful first term, let’s keep it up! Our topic this term is Stone Age to Iron Age. We will be thinking about what was ‘New’ about the New Stone Age? From there, we will be talking about FOOD! We will be learning different foods in French, practising food printing in Art and cooking and nutrition in DT. In English, we are reading Stig of the Dump where we will be writing poems, performing and much more.

The next term will be all about Belonging & Being Different (Florence Nightingale). The key question is why did Florence Nightingale put herself in such danger? Our class book will be King of the Cloud Forest by Michael Morpurgo which I am excited about because he is one of my favourite authors!

Homework will go home on the first Friday of each half term and will be expected back in once all of the tasks have been completed. Each task will have an amount of Dojo points attached to it and you can win prizes at the end of the term for collecting the most points.

PE days will be Monday and Tuesday. Please could all children come to school dressed appropriately for the PE day.
