Welcome to the Trailblazers class…
This term will be fantastic as our topic is World War One, followed by World War Two in the second half term. We have planned our English to compliment our history topics by using the novels War Horse by Michael Morpurgo, then Letters From the Lighthouse by Emma Carroll. If anyone has any relatives with stories from the war or memorabilia then please let us know so that we can all share in the history and bring the subject to life.
This term our class will be swimming every Friday and we are lucky enough to have Outdoor Adventurous Activities (OAA) booked in with TASFL for a period of five weeks on Tuesdays. After this block, PE sessions will return to Mondays for the rest of the school year. Please ensure your child comes to school in warm, waterproof clothing every Tuesday this half term and expect them to get dirty!
We are also welcoming Mrs Stansfield to our Trailblazers team this term. She will be working mainly with Year 5 on a morning and Mrs Gibson will work with year 6. Mrs Gibson is responsible for the entire class during the afternoons.
Homework will be given out every Friday and will consist of :
- Maths (using the CGP workbooks)
- Homework grid activities
It is also expected that your child reads at least three times a week at home and practises their times tables.
If you need any further information please catch us at the end of the school day.
For year 6 parents there will be an opportunity to meet with Mrs Gibson to discuss SAT’s next year. Look out for the meeting date and time in our weekly newsletter.
Such a busy and exciting term!
